What is bad about GMOs? GMOs can keep contaminating the environment for as long as they are used. They do this when the plants pollinate and their seeds travel through the air and spread over a wide range of area. They say that it is impossible to get rid of all the seeds that a GM plant produces because they will always keep pollinating. When plants pollinate their seeds will fly into the air and yes they may go places they are not supposed too. They may also go and mix with other plants that could make a better stronger plant type that could help us in the future.
Herbicide use. Another way that GM plants can harm the planet is by making the plants herbicide tolerant. What this means is that the plants are resistance to herbicides that a farmer many spray onto the field to kill any and all bad weeds that are growing in the field. When crops are sprayed with herbicide to kill weeds some weeds may over time become resistance to the herbicide. Once a weed becomes resistance to a herbicide the farmer will then make the decision to put a stronger herbicide on to try and kill the weed. When the farmer does this then there will be more chemicals that can seep into the soil and spread around. Health. Doctors are being urged to start prescribing non-GMO diets to their patients that want to start dieting. They claim that they can cause long term damage on our bodies and organs. They also say that the insecticides that are put into the crops to withstand herbicides can transfer into our human body. Researchers say that allergies and health problems have increased since GM products were introduced in the late 90’s. My opinion on these topics is that I would agree on some of these problems. That's only because I have actually seen them be a problem in person. Other reasons I’m not really for sure if I totally agree that they are a problem but they could very well be a problem. Many people have many different opinions on these topics, but my is still that GMOs are safe to use and eat in our daily lives. http://responsibletechnology.org/10-reasons-to-avoid-gmos/
