What are GMOs? GMOs are genetically modified organisms. This means that any organism is able to be genetically modified in any way. They have many uses in today's world. For example GMOs are used to make many types of medicines, they are also used in scientific research, and also for production other types of products. Today in the U.S. GMOs are one of the main type of crops grown in the U.S. With GMO corn covering 88% and GMO beans being 93%.
When it comes down to deciding wether or not GMOs are safe to eat or not it's all in the facts. Today in the U.S. we grown GMO crops. These crops are used for a wide variety of things including our food. Now take that and consider that we eat food and use products that are made of GMOs. Considering the fact that we are eating and using these products that must mean they are safe. Some people think that they are not safe but everyone has there own opinion. A few of the main reasons that GMOs are grown for are because, farmers rearrange the genes to make them able to grow more plants in a smaller area. So small farmers are able to grow more crops in a smaller section of fields. They also make the crops tolerant to many different types of insects, bugs, and disease that could affect the crop or could kill it. So this way farmers that have smaller fields to grown crops are able to keep up with the bigger farmers and are also able to make a profit. In my honest opinion I believe that GMO crops are a good thing. Now there is some farmers out there that grow non-GMO crops and I have nothing against them but I just believe that GMO crops are not harmful nor are they a bade thing. The smaller farmers in America are now able to live better consider they can make a bigger profit on smaller fields.
